skate. developers announced the expansion of the training island. The location will be called Isle of Grom and will acquire new areas and spots that were not available at the start of early access. At the same time, access to the island will be phased and partially linked to a premium subscription.
From March 10 to April 14, Isle of Grom will only be open to premium owners. From April 14 to May 5, the island will be available to all users as part of a special in-game event. After May 5, players without a subscription will be able to visit the location in a limited format; 24 hours of access will have to be paid for with in-game currency. Formally, the zone will remain free, but with a temporary limit and the need to farm resources.
The decision caused discontent among some of the audience. Players recalled that the studio had previously stated that there would be no paid locations. In response, the developers emphasized that "sometimes plans have to change":
"We launched skate. in early access to create the game together with the players, not behind closed doors. Since September, we have been updating the world, refining characters, and adding features that our players have asked for. There are many more changes ahead. Yes, sometimes plans have to change. This is part of the open development process. We are here, we are listening, and we will continue to shape skate. together with the community."
In addition to expanding the map, the third season will feature new brands, expand the range of cosmetic items, and introduce an additional Premium+ tariff. In the near future, the developers promised to reveal more details about the content of the season.
