The new head of Xbox, Asha Sharma, formerly involved with AI within Microsoft, shared her vision for the platform's development in an interview with Variety.
"I have no tolerance for bad AI," Sharma stated, emphasizing that AI will remain part of the development process, but "great stories are created by people."
According to her, games need new "growth engines," but "great stories are created by people." She also reiterated the position stated on the Microsoft website:
We will not chase short-term efficiency and fill the ecosystem with soulless AI. Games will always be art created by people using the most innovative technologies.
Sharma noted that the next 25 years belong to teams that are ready to create something unexpected and bring ideas to fruition. She emphasized that AI can be useful, but only when applied correctly, and the main focus will remain on the creative contribution of humans.
