"Deadpool" Star Ed Skrein Cast as Baldur in God of War Series

The cast of the God of War series continues to expand.

Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the actor who will play Baldur in the God of War series adaptation for Prime Video. The character, who will be one of the central antagonists of the story, will be played by Ed Skrein — a British actor known for the films «Deadpool», «Rebel Moon», and «Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom».

According to the official character description, Baldur is Odin's youngest son and his most dangerous weapon. Charismatic and unpredictable, he operates according to his own rules. In childhood, Baldur was cursed: he is deprived of the ability to feel physical pain and pleasure. This curse fuels his rage and makes him obsessed with finding a worthy opponent who can make him feel something.

As a reminder, the series will focus on the events of the last two games in the series — God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok. This is the story of Kratos and his ten-year-old son Atreus, who set out to fulfill Faye's last wish — to scatter her ashes on the summit of the highest mountain in all nine realms.

Earlier, Ryan Hurst (Kratos), Mandy Patinkin (Odin), Max Parker (Heimdall), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Thor), and Alastair Duncan (Mimir) and others have already joined the cast of the project.

Ronald D. Moore, who previously worked on «Battlestar Galactica», is the showrunner of the project. The first episodes will be directed by Frederick E. O. Toye. The series has already been commissioned for two seasons, but the premiere date has not yet been announced. Amazon MGM Studios is producing the series in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.
