"Marketing Black Hole" - New Blood Chief Attacks Epic Again

The head of New Blood Interactive, Dave Oshry, is known for his harsh statements. In a huge interview for the RPG Site portal dedicated to the game Dungeons of Dusk, he harshly criticized Epic Games Store, a competitor to Steam.

Oshry recalled that he had previously called EGS a "marketing black hole" and now believes he was right. When his company started publishing Blood West, he inquired about sales on Tim Sweeney's platform.

I asked them if they were selling at least five copies a month. They said no.

According to him, Epic missed the chance to create a better ecosystem than Steam.

The ideas were there, but they failed to create a better store or improve the user experience, and it's been 10 years and they still haven't done it. So it's over. End of story.

The main topic of the interview was Dungeons of Dusk, a tactical turn-based dungeon crawler. A free demo is already available as part of the Steam Next Fest, with a release scheduled for 2026.

I never wanted to be in the mainstream.

The game is already fully verified for Steam Deck. The project is also announced for release on Nintendo Switch 2.
