Pokémon Pokopia has become the highest-rated entry in the franchise in the history of the Metacritic review aggregator.
The life sim, which many describe as a mix of Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Viva Piñata, and Dragon Quest Builders, will be released on March 5 exclusively for Switch 2. Critics have received the project almost unanimously positively — its current average score on Metacritic stands at 88 out of 100.
Previously, the best result among Pokémon games was held by Pokémon Y (88 points) and Pokémon X (87 points). However, since both versions are traditionally considered together, their average score is 87.5, which is slightly below Pokopia's result.
