Wildlight Entertainment has released a final update for its hero shooter Highguard — this is the last patch for the game before its complete shutdown on March 12.
Creative Director Jason McCord expressed his gratitude to the small team that voluntarily worked overtime to bring the update to release.
They weren't obligated to do this. They asked for permission to finish the work and release the patch themselves.
The update introduces several major innovations:
- A new Guardian named Koldo — a lost soul trapped in armor
- A new weapon, The Switchback — a long-barreled, double-barreled shotgun with unique mechanics. In hip-fire mode, it works like a classic shotgun, and when aiming, it turns into a sniper rifle. Allows you to make quick double shots or fire steadily
- A full-fledged skill tree that was not available at launch. It is divided into four branches corresponding to different play styles.
McCord honestly admitted that many elements of the update were "made with compromises": Koldo is missing some skins, emotes, and sounds in certain situations, and the skill tree has not undergone full iteration and polishing, as is usually the case during a normal development cycle.
