A scandal has erupted in the US after the official White House account on social network X published a video in which footage from popular films, TV series, and video games was edited together with real footage of joint US and Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory in late February. The use of pop culture characters has drawn sharp criticism not only from many ordinary people, but also from some cultural figures.
One of the first to react was Steve Downes, the actor who voices Master Chief from the Halo game series. He stated that his voice was used without permission and expressed dissatisfaction that the material was used in political propaganda.
It has come to my attention that there is at least one propaganda video being circulated, created or at least approved by the White House, that uses images of Master Chief and my voice to support the war in Iran. Let me be perfectly clear: I did not participate in the creation of this video, I was not consulted, and I do not approve of the use of my voice in this video, nor the message it conveys. I demand that the creators of this disgusting and infantile war pornography immediately remove my voice.
