Arnold Schwarzenegger has stated that 20th Century Studios is developing three projects with his participation — a new film in the "Predator" universe, a sequel to "Commando", and the long-awaited "Conan 3", also known as "King Conan". The actor announced this during a speech at the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio, USA.
According to Schwarzenegger, director Dan Trachtenberg offered him to return to the role of Dutch — the hero of the original 1987 film. The character recently appeared in the final scene of the animated film "Predator: Killer of Killers", where it was revealed that he is alive and in a cryocapsule on the Predator's home planet — Yautja Prime.
"They shot another 'Predator', and the director [Dan Trachtenberg] is doing a great job with this franchise. Now he wants me to star in the next 'Predator'. We've already discussed it. Moreover, Fox Studios seems to have rediscovered Arnold. They said: 'We want you to star in 'Predator'. And we also have a 'Commando 2' script for you'."
Thus, Schwarzenegger is considering returning to two cult franchises at once. But his statements did not end there.
According to the actor, the studio also hired a director and screenwriter who worked on the latest films with Tom Cruise to write the script and direct "King Conan".
It is likely that this is Christopher McQuarrie, who has been collaborating with Cruise since "Valkyrie" and directed "Jack Reacher", "Top Gun: Maverick", and the last four films in the "Mission: Impossible" series.
None of the mentioned films have been officially announced yet, and the production dates have not been disclosed. Nevertheless, the very fact of negotiations and discussions gives hope that at least some of these plans will eventually reach the screens.
