Development becomes more expensive: Epic Games reduces the purchasing power of players in Fortnite

The exchange rate of real money for V-bucks has changed not in favor of players.

Epic Games has announced a price increase for V-bucks in Fortnite. The changes affected all sets of microtransactions and effectively reduced the purchasing power of players.

According to the developers, the cost of supporting and developing the game has increased significantly, so the company decided to revise the prices for in-game currency.

After the update, players will receive fewer V-bucks for the same money:

• $8.99 — 800 V-bucks instead of 1,000 (20% decrease in purchasing power)
• $22.99 — 2,400 V-bucks instead of 2,800 (-14.3%)
• $36.99 — 4,500 V-bucks instead of 5,000 (-10%)
• $89.99 — 12,500 V-bucks instead of 13,500 (-7.4%)

Since its launch in 2017, Fortnite has brought Epic Games more than $20 billion.
