Players Ignored Highguard's "Funeral": Project Officially Shut Down

Highguard is officially closed and has joined the sad history of Concord. The game, announced at The Game Awards 2025, lasted only a month on the market, becoming one of the fastest and most spectacular failures in the history of service games.

Wildlight Entertainment, which faced mass layoffs immediately after release, shut down the servers on March 12. According to the developers, the project "became a joke in the very first minute."

The "funeral" was modest and sad. There were only 399 players left on PC at the time of the server shutdown, and less than 200 a few hours before the end.

Experts note that the reason for the failure was not only poor testing and limited modes, but also audience fatigue. The market is oversaturated with shooters that blindly repeat old trends. After the problems with Concord, the failure of Highguard became a signal: players want fresh ideas, not another copy.

As long as corporations continue to bet on proven schemes, stories like Highguard will be repeated.
