Sony has announced a major update for the PlayStation Portal handheld device, which will be released on March 18. The main innovation will be the "1080p High Quality" mode, which significantly improves image quality during remote play and cloud streaming.
After installing the update, users will be able to select "1080p High Quality Mode" for remote play and cloud streaming. This mode focuses on improved picture quality, although it requires more internet traffic. It will become an alternative to the standard "1080p Standard" mode.
According to the official PlayStation blog, the popularity of the cloud streaming feature continues to grow: in January 2026, the number of active users increased by 162% compared to last year, and more than half of Portal owners are subscribed to PlayStation Plus Premium.
