NVIDIA has introduced DLSS 5.0, and the novelty has raised questions. The technology works as an "AI filter" that can change the appearance of characters, up to the structure of the face and eyes.

Using Resident Evil Requiem as an example, it was shown that DLSS 5.0 adds age to the heroine, changes makeup, eye position, jaw, and even individual facial features. As a result, the image differs significantly from the original and affects the artistic style.

Blogger Daniel Owen noted: "this is no longer DLSS." He pointed out that it would be more logical to put such a "filter" into a separate function, rather than calling it a new generation of technology.

DLSS was created to improve performance without losing quality – the picture should remain as it is with native rendering. But version 5.0 not only changes the image, but also requires two GeForce RTX 5090s to run the effects shown in the demo.

According to NVIDIA, the release of DLSS 5.0 is scheduled for the fall of 2026.
