Nvidia's DLSS 5 technology presentation continues to generate a strong reaction in the gaming industry. Particular attention was drawn to the example with the character Grace from Resident Evil Requiem, whose appearance was noticeably changed using generative neural network rendering.

The "before and after" comparison showed that DLSS 5 not only improves lighting and detail, but also significantly changes facial features. Critics believe that such changes may contradict the artistic intent of the authors, and the new look of the heroine is more like the result of an AI filter in the style of social networks.

As it turned out, dissatisfaction may exist within the studios themselves. According to Insider Gaming, some Capcom developers were surprised by the demonstration and were not aware of it in advance. This raised questions about the company's position on generative AI. Previously, Capcom stated that it considers such technologies as a tool to improve efficiency, but not as a replacement for artists.

At the same time, the official position of the company looks more favorable. Nvidia's press release mentions support for the technology from Capcom, Ubisoft and Bethesda. Moreover, Capcom top manager Jun Takeuchi noted that DLSS 5 is able to make the Resident Evil series games even more exciting.

Additional questions were raised by the statement of Nvidia's Director of Global PR Ben Berraondo, who claimed that Capcom approved the updated image of Grace Ashcroft. This gave rise to the assumption that the decision could have been made at the management level, without the participation of artists.
