The system considers additional devices as cheats.
Recently, a scandal erupted in the Arc Raiders community. The reason was the blocking of a fan with disabilities.
doyoulikePRIMERIB is paralyzed but found a way to enjoy video games — uses a special controller and controls with breath. The system mistook this device for a "cheat":
I have played countless multiplayer and single-player games and have never been banned or resorted to cheats. I am a quadriplegic gamer [paralysis of the limbs], so I use a controller with a tube and airflow (sip and puff mouth controller) called QuadStick, which allows me to control the computer not only in games, but also in everyday life.
After the first month-long ban, doyoulikePRIMERIB tried to contact support, but his problem was never resolved. He went to wait out the ban in other games, and when he returned to Arc Raiders, he received a lifetime ban on the very first day.
Embark Studios heard the community's feedback and will now investigate the incident:
We have become aware that some players using additional devices to ensure accessibility are receiving bans in the game. We are actively working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Our support team is reviewing all appeals — please continue to contact us if this has happened to you as well. Thank you for reporting this.
