The upcoming film is positioned as a sequel to 1982's "Conan the Barbarian." The story will focus on the aging hero years after his reign, when he is once again drawn into conflict and forced to return to duty.
Christopher McQuarrie is mentioned as the director of the project — a screenwriter and director known for the "Mission: Impossible" series, "Jack Reacher," and "Top Gun: Maverick".
Schwarzenegger also previously stated that he received an offer to star in one of the "Predator" franchise films, which Dan Trachtenberg is currently developing, as well as in "Commando 2." Details and release dates for these projects have not yet been disclosed.
