Not a Bubble: TSMC is Selling Production Capacity That Hasn't Even Been Built Yet

According to the Taiwan Economic Daily, TSMC's American division is currently literally "overloaded" with orders—so much so that there is practically no free capacity for new customers.

There is particularly high interest in the TSMC Arizona project, where the company is actively developing production. However, sources note that the pace of expansion is insufficient to meet the demands of the largest customers, such as NVIDIA, Apple, and AMD.

The situation has reached the point where customers are trying to book capacity in advance that has not even been built yet. In particular, the fourth factory, designed to produce chips using the 2 nm or A16 process by the end of the decade, is already fully reserved.

Analysts attribute the surge of interest in American capacity to geopolitical risks. Major customers, including Qualcomm, are seeking to diversify production and obtain "backup" sites outside of Taiwan. In this context, TSMC's overseas expansion, especially in the United States, is becoming a key factor in building trust among American companies.
