Photographer Varvara "Nelapa" Lapina and model Anya Deychan also looked into the universe of the role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which received many awards at various events and a large number of positive reviews from the gaming community.
During the photoshoot, cosplayer Deychan was able to transform into one of the playable heroines – Mael.
Mael is the youngest member of the 33rd Expedition with red hair gathered in a high ponytail. Her outfit is practical for combat and made in the Art Deco style: a fitted black and purple jacket with gold patterns and epaulettes, narrow trousers with belts, and high laced boots.
This is a complex character whose personality is revealed as events unfold. Mael struggles with loss and often acts under the influence of grief. She doesn't feel at home in Lumiere and sees the Expedition as an opportunity to escape the city, see the world, and determine her own destiny.
Mael is deeply attached to Gustav, who became the only truly close person to her after she was orphaned at the age of three.
