Sony has announced the closure of its internal studio, Dark Outlaw Games, founded by veteran Jason Blundell.

Blundell, known for his work on the zombie mode for the Call of Duty series and a former employee of Treyarch, joined PlayStation Studios to create a new team after the cancellation of a previous project in collaboration with Deviation Games.

Just a year ago, Blundell shared plans for the future of the studio. At the time, he said that the team is "working in the shadows" and will present its project later. Blundell emphasized that creating a new studio within Sony is a rare opportunity and a great honor.

Before founding Dark Outlaw Games, Blundell was a co-founder of Deviation Games, where he was making a game-service for Sony worth more than $200 million. According to sources, Sony subsequently stopped funding due to development problems, which led to the studio's breakup in 2024.
