Due to rising memory prices, the production costs of the NEXT 2 have significantly exceeded the product's retail price. Under these circumstances, Ayaneo can no longer continue selling this flagship handheld device.
Back in February, Ayaneo opened pre-orders for the flagship NEXT 2 handheld device, equipped with a 9.06-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400×1504, Windows 11 operating system, AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (or AI Max 385) processor, 32–64 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of built-in storage.
At that time, the team knew that storage prices were already at a very high level, but still started selling the NEXT 2 in order not to disappoint gamers.
After the Chinese New Year, when Ayaneo employees contacted suppliers again to confirm current memory purchase prices, the developers found that the cost had increased several times compared to the pre-holiday period.
In such circumstances, the cost of the device became significantly higher than the established selling price. Therefore, after careful consideration, Ayaneo decided to suspend pre-orders for the NEXT 2.
Currently, production costs have significantly exceeded the retail price of the device, almost reaching double the price originally set by the company. In these circumstances, it is no longer possible to continue selling the product.
The team has removed the product from all sales channels, and users can no longer purchase the NEXT 2 on Indiegogo. People who have pre-ordered can be assured that Ayaneo will continue production according to plan.
This does not mean the end of the NEXT 2's life cycle: the company is only temporarily suspending pre-orders. If memory prices return to a more reasonable level in the future, the team will consider resuming sales.
Regardless of whether the NEXT 2 will be available for purchase again, the device's after-sales service will not be affected. Ayaneo will prepare sufficient stocks of components for service support and ensure long-term, reliable service and repair of the NEXT 2.
