Sony has announced a global price increase for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal consoles. The new recommended retail prices will take effect on April 2, 2026. The company explained the decision by the "global economic situation" and the need to support the development of innovative products.
The increase turned out to be noticeable in almost all regions:
- PS5 (standard version) previously cost around $499 / €549 / £479, now the price has increased by approximately $100 / €100 / £90.
- PS5 Digital Edition rose from approximately $449 / €449 / £389 to $599 / €599 / £519 — an increase of up to $150 in the US and up to €150 in Europe.
- PS5 Pro, which was previously valued below current values (around $799), has risen in price by approximately $100
- PlayStation Portal also added about $50 / €50 / £40 to the previous price
