GaGa Games Publishing has opened pre-orders for "Polis" - an asymmetrical, two-player Eurogame that has entered the TOP 100 wargames and received a rating of 8.1 on BoardGameGeek. People wishing to buy it will have to pay 4990 rubles (retail price - 5990 rubles).
Participants will have to plunge into the epicenter of the Peloponnesian War, which unfolded between Sparta and Athens, and do everything possible to emerge victorious from this difficult but exciting confrontation.
Players will need to fight for territories, collect useful resources from residents, protect diplomats and merchant ships, lure other city-states to their side, and capture cultural projects.
The economic part of the game will require opponents to manage resources in a complex way. This is a harsh management in the context of the most severe crisis of wartime: the distribution of goods between regions, the decisive role of the population in providing for the army, and the importance of the leader's prestige.
"Polis" is filled with historical references that support the theme of the game not only atmospherically and visually, but also mechanically. For example, the Athenians used their political influence, bribery, trade, and naval dominance to wage a defensive war of attrition according to the precepts of Pericles.
The Spartans waged an aggressive and provocative war, constantly pursuing the Athenians and mercilessly plundering the territories allied to them. All pre-order participants will receive a printed booklet with three game scenarios as a bonus. Each of them reconstructs a specific conflict of the 5th century BC, includes historical information and special starting conditions.
The Russian edition of the board game is printed at the same factory as the world edition. "Polis" should reach the warehouse in September 2026.
