The cast of the God of War adaptation for Prime Video continues to grow.
Amazon has decided on the actress for the role of Freya in the God of War series for Prime Video. The goddess from the Norse pantheon will be played by Sonja Walger, known for the series "Lost" and "For All Mankind."
The series will adapt the events of the last two games in the series: God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok. The story will tell about Kratos and his ten-year-old son Atreus, who set out to fulfill Faye's last wish — to scatter her ashes on the top of the highest mountain in all nine worlds.
Earlier, Ryan Hurst (Kratos), Mandy Patinkin (Odin), Max Parker (Heimdall), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Thor), and Alastair Duncan (Mimir) had already joined the cast of the project. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios in conjunction with Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.
Ronald D. Moore is the showrunner of the project, and the first episodes will be directed by Frederick E. O. Toye. The series has already been renewed for a second season even before the release of the first, but the exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
