Some would like to see the star of "The Boys" in the role of the iconic antagonist of Resident Evil.
Resident Evil fans have been actively promoting Anthony Starr, known for his role as Homelander in the series "The Boys", for the role of the iconic antagonist Albert Wesker for several years. This is largely due to his image as a cold and charismatic villain, as well as his external resemblance to the character.
However, Anthony Starr himself was skeptical about this idea. According to him, the only thing he has in common with Wesker is blond hair, which he has already gotten rid of. In addition, the actor noted that the role "probably needs someone younger," reminding that he is already 50 years old.
"People keep talking about it... but it seems the only thing that unites me is blond hair, which I got rid of. I think you probably need someone younger... I'm 50."
Meanwhile, the Resident Evil franchise itself is preparing for another reboot in cinema. The director of the new film is Zach Cregger, who previously directed "Barbarian". He openly declares his love for the games in the series, but is not going to strictly follow the canon.
The plot of the new film will focus on a courier who finds himself in an infected Raccoon City hospital, where the T-virus has already spread. At the same time, key characters from the games, such as Leon Kennedy or Chris Redfield, will not appear in the film, and a script that leaked online earlier hinted that the film would be closer in spirit to a black comedy than to a horror film.
The premiere of the new Resident Evil film is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
