There have long been rumors that a major AAA project is being created based on the world of "Lord of the Rings." The leaks were commented on by Polish translator and expert Richard Choynovski.
In the "Tolkien Polska" podcast, Choynovski shared an interesting rumor: a new "Lord of the Rings" is indeed in development. According to him, the project is being financed by investors from the UAE, and the budget is about 100 million dollars. We are talking about an open-world RPG.
According to the same statement, Warhorse Studios, known for the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, is responsible for the project. The Czech studio has already proven that it can create large-scale and atmospheric adventures. Choynovski noted that he had heard about the plans several months ago, but now that the information has been confirmed from new sources, he has begun to take this scenario much more seriously.
In his opinion, Warhorse could create a "hypnotically beautiful" game in the Tolkien universe, as the studio is excellent at building atmosphere and interesting quests. Although a budget of 100 million dollars does not seem gigantic for the industry today, for the creators of Kingdom Come it would be a significant influx of funds.
