Eidos Montréal has announced a new wave of layoffs: the company has laid off 124 employees. In an official statement on LinkedIn, this was attributed to "changes in project needs and the impact on production and support teams."
At the same time, it became known about the departure of the head of the studio, David Anfossi. He worked at the company for almost 20 years, was a producer of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and held the position of head since 2013. The studio thanked Anfossi for his contribution and announced that they are already preparing a plan to transfer leadership to a new leader.
This reduction occurred against the backdrop of reports from December 2025 about the cancellation of a new game in the Legacy of Kain universe, after which employees were also laid off. It is not yet clear whether those layoffs are related to the current ones or whether this is a new wave of reductions.
In recent years, the studio has been experiencing difficulties with the launch of large projects. The last game fully developed by Eidos Montreal remains Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (2021), which received high marks from critics. After that, the team was involved in supporting Fable, but after the completion of the contract, there were also reductions - almost exactly a year ago, in March.
