Against the backdrop of rising component prices, some have begun to express the opinion that the cost of consoles may increase significantly.
Well-known insider KeplerL2 shared his thoughts on the cost of PlayStation 6 and the potential price of the console:
My current estimate for the cost of PS6 is around $760, so I would say that [the selling price of the console] $699 is still possible. The question is whether Sony will even bother now that Xbox is no longer a direct competitor.
However, not everyone shares this opinion regarding Sony's pricing policy. Some analysts do not rule out that the price could reach $1000.
Toto: "I think that $999 as a minimum for one of the versions of the PS6 console is a very possible scenario."
van Drunen believes that if the memory shortage persists, then "a $1000 console will become the norm."
