Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski has confirmed that he is working on a new book in "The Witcher" universe. He announced this at the book fair in Brussels, but details of the project have not yet been revealed.

It is highly likely that the new book will continue the line of the young Geralt, started in the novel "The Tower of the Swallow", released in 2025. However, Sapkowski himself does not specify either the time period or the format of the future story.

The author also shared his opinion on the state of the book industry. According to him, interest in reading is declining, and the main reason is the high cost of books. He believes that a book "cannot cost more than half a liter of vodka", that is, no more than 20 zlotys (about 436 rubles at the exchange rate on March 31).

"The readership is falling, and this is an obvious fact. There are many reasons. The main, if not the only one, is the price of books. <…> I have always argued that a book cannot cost more than half a liter of vodka."

At the same time, Gry Online notes that "The Tower of the Swallow" from SuperNowa publishing house is sold in Poland from 66 zlotys (1439 rubles at the exchange rate on March 31) even in the cheapest edition, and more high-quality versions cost even more. Sapkowski himself believes that books should "be sold at reasonable prices based on correct economic calculations and financed by the state" - then the readership "will grow, not fall."

Separately, Sapkowski commented on his approach to the characters. He noted that he does not single out favorite characters, since they are all subordinate to the story. According to him, the books about Geralt were not conceived as carriers of hidden meanings or political statements - this is primarily a narrative.

The writer also touched on the topic of the international success of the series. His fears about the loss of humor and nuances in translation, he said, were not justified - he considers most localizations successful.
