Plans for the release of the seventh part of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" continue to cause confusion among viewers.
The long-awaited continuation of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" called "Steel Ball Run" was released on Netflix on March 19 and immediately attracted the attention of viewers. However, the expected continuation did not follow a week later — the series simply disappeared from the schedule, leaving the audience in uncertainty.
As it became known at AnimeJapan 2026, the second episode, dedicated to the next stage of Johnny Joestar's transcontinental race, will be released on Netflix "sometime" in 2026 without specifying a date. Even director Yasuhiro Kimura previously admitted that he does not know when the release will take place. This only reinforced the feeling that the project does not have a clear schedule.
The situation disappointed fans, as many were counting on a weekly format. This immediately recalled the release of "Stone Ocean", the sixth part of the franchise. Then the series was also released in batches, and this caused criticism. At the same time, the whole story was still released in full in about a year.
In the case of "Steel Ball Run", the concerns sound more serious. The project is planned to be divided into nine stages. If there are months of pauses between them, the release may stretch for several years.
French manga translator Anthony Prezman criticized Netflix's approach. According to him, the story is built on tension and anticipation from week to week, and releasing in batches destroys this effect. He urged the service to take into account the specifics of the narrative and be more attentive to the audience, which he called one of the most dedicated in the industry.
His position was supported by other industry members and fans. Discussions include calls to return to the weekly format. Netflix has not yet commented on the situation, and the release schedule for the seventh part remains uncertain.
