The second season of "Dorohedoro" has finally been released more than six years after the premiere of the first. The continuation of the manga adaptation by Q Hayashida started immediately on Netflix and Crunchyroll, where three new episodes are already available to viewers.
The project is again being handled by the MAPPA studio, which has retained the key creative team. Director Yuichiro Hayashi returned to work after completing "Attack on Titan", Hiroshi Seko is writing the script again, and Tomohiro Kishi is responsible for the character design. The musical accompaniment is again created by the group (K)NoW_NAME.
"Dorohedoro" is an adaptation of the manga of the same name, on which Q Hayashida worked for almost two decades, from 2000 to 2018. The story unfolds in a dark world where there is a city called the Hole — a place where magicians regularly come from another dimension to conduct cruel experiments on people.
The plot focuses on Kaiman, a lizard-headed man who has lost his memory. Together with Nikaido, the owner of the "Hungry Bug" restaurant, he hunts magicians, trying to find the one who turned him into a monster. However, the structure of the narrative is far from the usual division into "heroes" and "villains": the story consistently reveals several sides of the conflict, forcing the viewer to change their attitude towards the characters.
New episodes will be released every Wednesday. A total of 11 episodes are planned for the second season.
