Guerrilla Games is preparing a network project and Horizon 3, but we should not forget about Horizon Steel Frontiers. Despite the close connection with the franchise, the game is still not planned for release on PS5.
In a new interview, the head of NC America, Jeonghee "JJ" Jin, confirmed that the project is being created with the close participation of Guerrilla Games and Sony. The creators of the series are actively monitoring the development of the MMO to ensure that it meets the quality and lore of the universe. At GDC 2026, Jin noted that development is progressing excellently:
Work is going very well. The team is working closely with Guerrilla Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the game itself looks really great – it's a beautiful, impressive world where humanity, nature, and technology collide.
Jin is confident that the developers have managed to create a "strong experience in the MMO genre". This is an important signal, given the rumors of the project being canceled in early 2025. Currently, only crossplay between PC and mobile devices has been confirmed, but the head of the studio does not close the door to other platforms:
The game was announced with crossplay between mobile devices and PC – that's all I can confirm right now. Who knows, maybe there will be something more.
The events will take players to the vast region of the Deadlands (Arizona and New Mexico). Instead of Aloy, players will create their own hunters. Raids, cooperative hunting for machines, an open world, and developed social systems are promised. There is no release date yet, but news about tests is expected in 2026.
