This year, Microsoft is set to release Gears of War: E-Day.
Gears of War: E-Day will be the next game in the iconic third-person shooter series. It will be a prequel dedicated to a key event in the universe — the first day of the Locust Horde's invasion of the planet Sera.
The developers are calling the project the most ambitious in the history of the franchise. The game's events will unfold at the moment when humanity first encountered the threat from the planet's depths, which should showcase a darker and more dramatic side of the Gears of War world.
Actor Liam McIntyre, who voiced JD Fenix in Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, also commented on the announcement. According to him, the idea of Gears 6 was indeed discussed, but the team decided to try something new.
We did Gears 4 and 5, and there was an idea for Gears 6. But the team wanted to try something different. And, honestly, it looks great. I hope they come back to discussing the sixth installment. I love these guys and just want them to create a game that they think accurately captures the atmosphere of Gears of War that everyone loves. That would be amazing. And if that leads to a return to the trilogy, that would be great.
At the same time, the actor expressed hope that the sixth installment will still appear in the future.
