Brian Raffel decided that after 36 years in the industry, it would be nice to retire.

Raven Software co-founder Brian Raffel has announced his retirement after 36 years with the company.

Raffel and his brother founded Raven Software in 1990. The studio's first game was Black Crypt, released in 1992. Since then, the team has come a long way: over the years, the developers have released 42 games, created 12 original projects and participated in the development of 18 parts of the Call of Duty series.

Brian Raffel was at the origins of many famous projects, including Hexen, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, X-Men Legends and Wolfenstein.

The studio played a special role in the development of the Call of Duty series: starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Raven Software actively participated in the creation of key parts of the franchise. In particular, the team contributed to the development of the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale, and also helped in the creation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
