Developers from Remedy Entertainment have shared new details about Control Resonant, which takes place seven years after the events of the original Control. According to the latest developer diary, the game world has undergone serious changes — Manhattan lies in ruins, and Dylan Faden will have to confront the impending paranormal disasters.
One of the key innovations will be the redesigned enemies. As Senior Gameplay Animator Annika Lehtinen said, familiar factions — the Hiss and the Mold — have evolved significantly. If in the first part the enemies were mainly people with different weapons, now the enemies have become much more complex and diverse, and the differences between the factions are more pronounced.
Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen emphasized that the Hiss and the Mold remain different paranormal forces in nature. They differ not only visually, but also in how they affect the surrounding world. At the same time, the team paid special attention to the Mold, striving to show it not just as an element of post-apocalyptic nature, but as a threat from another dimension.
Lead Gameplay Designer Sergei Mokhov added that the enemies in Control Resonant have received clear combat roles and have become more diverse in shape and size. Their behavior forces players to choose the right tools and tactics at the right time, making battles more dynamic and demanding.
According to the developers, the real world also affects the factions — this makes them more aggressive, unpredictable and dangerous, creating new challenges for players.
In addition, the game will feature so-called Resonants — creatures of a higher level of threat. By defeating them, players will be able to return to the "Rift" — a metaphysical space inside Dylan's mind — and turn defeated enemies into new abilities.
