Henry Cavill has commented on long-standing rumors about his possible role in the new Bond film and made it clear that he does not see himself as the next James Bond. In an interview with Heat, he noted that at 42, he is unlikely to be suitable to become the face of the franchise for many years.
"What actor wouldn't want to be Bond? But at 42, I'd probably be considered too old to start a [Bond] career."
According to Cavill, he did not refuse the role — it just "wasn't the right time" before. At the same time, the actor stressed that he would gladly play a villain if a suitable and interesting character appears.
The next Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, and the script is being written by Steven Knight. At the same time, the new performer of the role of agent 007 and the release date have not yet been announced.
