"Dune: Part Three" will be the shortest film in Denis Villeneuve's trilogy. The runtime of the final installment will be 140 minutes — noticeably shorter than the previous chapters, despite expectations of a larger-scale conclusion to the story. The film is expected to bring Paul Atreides' story to a close, as well as adapt the events of the novel "Dune Messiah" and partially "Children of Dune," yet apparently Villeneuve did not need to extend the runtime to do so.

For comparison, 2021's "Dune" ran 2 hours 35 minutes, while "Dune: Part Two" ran 2 hours 46 minutes. It will remain the longest film in the trilogy.

Information about the runtime emerged amid the start of ticket sales for IMAX screenings in the United States. Warner Bros. has already joined the battle for viewers' attention, as the film will be released on the same day as "Avengers: Doctor Doom" — December 18, 2026.

Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya have returned to the cast, along with Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem. Among the newcomers is Robert Pattinson, who will play the antagonist Scytale. Paul and Chani's children — Leto II and Ghanima — will also appear in the film.
