Studio IO Interactive shared news about the release of the spy action game 007 First Light — and they turned out to be ambiguous for different platforms.
The good news is for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S owners: the game will be released on time — May 27.
Another positive piece of news concerns PC and PlayStation players, for whom a limited edition gamepad in the style of the game has been presented. The controller will cost $85, and pre-orders will begin in April. The device will go on sale simultaneously with the launch of the game.
But for Nintendo Switch 2 users, IO Interactive only has bad news: the version for this platform has been postponed and is now expected only «later this summer». At the same time, the developers did not directly call the situation a delay and did not disclose the reasons for the postponement, limiting themselves to a short message on social networks.
The studio's statement says that the team is «looking forward to providing the best gaming experience on all platforms», but the lack of specifics raises questions among players. Especially against the background of the fact that earlier, in December 2025, IO Interactive, without unnecessary wording, had already postponed the release of the entire game from March to May.
The situation raises concerns that the Switch 2 version may face more serious problems, as has happened with other projects. For example, the port of Elden Ring to the new Nintendo console is still under development and will be released much later than expected, and some games are at risk of being canceled on this platform altogether.
