Employees of Crowd Games publishing house announced that they will release the "Genro" expansion for the "Nippon. Zaibatsu" board game in Russian, the events of which take place in Japan during the Meiji era (1868–1912).
This expansion is not just new content for the sake of content, but an improvement of the gameplay while maintaining the basic mechanics. Genro ("elder") was the name given to officials who served as advisors to the emperor. They played an important role in the industrialization of Japan.
In "Nippon" they will add not only variety, but also logic: in the basic game, the zaibatsu operate independently, without the participation of the state. The activities of the conglomerates will be supervised by the genro.
There are five of them in the expansion: each has its own rules and components. During preparation, only two are selected — a total of 10 combinations of such pairs are possible, setting a unique strategic tone for each game.
The Genro limit some actions and provide valuable bonuses. Pre-orders for the expansion are scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.
