Twisted Metal Creator Impressed by Breakthrough in PS3 Game Emulation on RPCS3 - He Thought Emulating These Games Was Impossible

Tech enthusiasts continue to successfully run PlayStation 3 games on PC.

Recently, the authors of RPCS3 announced a breakthrough in PlayStation 3 game emulation. They were able to achieve a performance boost in Twisted Metal.

This game is considered one of the most SPU-demanding games on the console. The creator of Twisted Metal reacted to the achievement and shared his impressions.

Jaim Stainard responded to the RPCS3 developers' post:

I wrote 90% of the SPU code for Twisted Metal. (most of it was porting PostFX from the GPU) I'm proud that the game was called SPU-demanding. It is! We essentially used the PPU, SPU, and RSX at full power simultaneously.

The Twisted Metal developer also admitted that at the time, he "was sure that PS3 games would never be emulated."
