Steven Soderbergh is not going to return to the film \"The Hunt for Ben Solo,\" which was previously being developed at Lucasfilm. In a conversation with The Playlist, the director was asked if he would be willing to return to the project, considering that Lucasfilm is now headed by Dave Filoni. Soderbergh replied briefly — \"no,\" making it clear that this story is closed for him.

At the same time, Soderbergh does not regret the time spent and calls the work a useful experience, but sees no point in returning to it. He compares the situation to the weather and says that complaining is pointless — you need to move on and work on the next projects. In his opinion, if this film was destined to happen, it would have already happened.

As a reminder, the initiative originally came from Adam Driver, who played Kylo Ren. Together with Soderbergh and Rebecca Blunt, he spent almost two and a half years developing the concept and script for free, which was later finalized by Scott Z. Burns for a fee of $3 million.

At a certain stage, the film was close to being put into production, but Disney did not give the green light. According to media reports, this is the first time the company has rejected a Lucasfilm project at such a late stage. One of the reasons cited was the studio's reluctance to bring back a character whose story had come to an end in the finale of the sequel trilogy.

After the film was canceled, fans launched a campaign to bring it back. Since the end of last year, they have been launching petitions, putting up posters, and even paying for billboards in Times Square with the call to \"save Ben Solo.\" However, judging by the current situation, it is unlikely that a full-fledged revival of the project will be achieved — even if it does return, it will be a different version of the film without the participation of the original team.
