The spin-off of «The Boys» with the working title «The Boys: Mexico» remains in development and is gradually moving forward. According to showrunner Eric Kripke, the team has already submitted the first draft of the script to Amazon and received positive feedback.
According to Kripke, «The Boys: Mexico» is conceived as a stand-alone story, not just a geographical offshoot of the main series. If the original looked at the theme of superheroes through the prism of North America, the new spin-off will shift the focus to Latin American society.
It is unclear whether any of the original cast will return (from those who survive the fifth season of «The Boys»), but Kripke separately noted that each spin-off undergoes a «uniqueness test,» which underscores his desire to make an original and independent show.
Currently, screenwriter Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is making edits based on the streaming service's comments before the project moves to the next stage. Production timelines and release date have not yet been disclosed.
