Samson Made It to the List of Worst Games of 2026. Scores Worse Than Highguard

Samson: A Tyndalston Story, released on April 8, 2026, became a major disappointment for players and critics, shattering expectations for a high-quality "GTA-clone."

Instead of a potential hit that was supposed to fill the gap until the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, the project took third place among the worst-rated games of the year on Metacritic. The game has only 48 points – only Code Violet (29) and Tokyo Scramble (40) turned out to be worse. Samson also received 15 points less than the often-criticized Highguard.

The situation is also negative on Steam – only 54% positive reviews, which corresponds to the status of "mixed." Players complain about bugs, monotonous grinding, and poor controls. One of the users compared the vehicle control to "maneuvering a cargo ship."

Although some of the audience notes the low starting price, most reviews call the game "devoid of energy and pleasure, a repetitive torture" that "should not be played unless you are paid for it."

Industry critics are also not holding back in their assessments. OpenCritic gave the game a "weak" status with a rating of 59 points, and some reviews go as low as 2/10, pointing to weak action and an unsuccessful scenario.

Experts note that the idea with the debt system in a living city looked interesting, but the implementation turned Samson into one of the most notable technical and creative failures of recent years.
