Sony and IO Interactive studio have unveiled a limited edition DualSense controller dedicated to the upcoming 007: First Light. The reaction from players has been sharply negative.
The gamepad will be available for pre-order on April 17, 2026. The gold design with simple lines converging towards the center has sparked a wave of criticism. Fans believe that it does not reflect the main visual detail of the franchise, the rotating gun barrel from the classic Bond movie intros.
Art director Ramus Paulsen stated that the gold design refers to the elegance and timeless style of the series, and the details are inspired by "one of the most recognizable symbols of pop culture."
Players disagree. On social media and Reddit, they write that the gamepad is not associated with James Bond at all and is more reminiscent of accessories from The Legend of Zelda.
Versions of this design have also appeared: perhaps Sony and the developers did not get the rights to use the company logo with the rotating barrel. Others believe that the lines symbolize the "first light" from the subtitle First Light, the rays of the rising sun.
Part of the community reacted briefly: "stop ruining Bond."
