The classic action-RPG Darkstone from 1999 will receive a remaster, developed by Delphine Software and the original creator Paul Cuisset. The game was often compared to the first Diablo, but stood out with its own ideas.
Among the features was a character aging system: the hero gradually weakened, which forced you to act faster. Survival also played an important role; the character needed to eat regularly (for example, apples), otherwise he could die. This added an element of resource management to the classic battles with monsters.
The remaster will retain the atmosphere of the original, but will receive updated graphics and technical improvements to meet modern standards. Release details have not yet been revealed.
The project stands out because the game's author himself is returning to it, which increases the chances of preserving the spirit of the original without radical changes. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the return of classic RPGs, and Darkstone may once again draw attention to forgotten projects of the late 90s.
