The Game Bakers has announced the first free expansion for Cairn, called On the Trail: Deep Water, which will be released this summer on PC and PlayStation 5.
Deep Water will be the first in the On the Trail line of free add-ons and will add three new climbing zones and additional challenges to the game. Players will be invited to chart routes in new conditions and explore locations inspired by the ascents of legendary climbers. A key feature of this add-on will be routes over water, which will maintain a high level of difficulty but allow you to survive a fall.
In addition to the new routes, Deep Water will feature another playable character, Marco. This is a minor character whom Aava meets in the main story. Now you can play as him, but it is not yet specified whether he will receive unique mechanics.
In their address, the developers also hinted that other surprises may appear in the add-on, which will be announced later.
