Ralph Fiennes called Tilda Swinton a "fantastic" candidate for the role of Voldemort in the new "Harry Potter"

Ralph Fiennes, who played Voldemort in the "Harry Potter" film franchise, said in an interview with the BBC that he was once contacted about a possible return to the role. According to him, it was "several years ago", and he was ready to return, but then the dialogue did not continue, and now the actor believes that "the train has already left".

Fiennes was then asked who he thought could play Voldemort in the future, and was specifically asked about his opinion of Tilda Swinton, who has been linked to the role for several years. In response, the actor noted that Swinton would cope with the image "fantastically".

At the same time, the fate of Voldemort in the HBO series remains uncertain. The first season, adapting "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", will be released on December 25, 2026. As in the original story, the character does not have a full-fledged physical appearance at an early stage, so the studio is in no hurry to choose an actor.

According to rumors, a voice actor has already been selected for the first season, while the issue of the character's screen embodiment remains open.

At various times, rumors have appeared on the network about the possible casting of Cillian Murphy and Paul Bettany, but both actors denied them. Also, HBO chief Casey Bloys noted last month that he does not know who is applying for the role, since the final decision has not yet been made.
