Rumors about a possible postponement of the new Fable installment have resurfaced online. According to insider Jeff Grubb, Playground Games allegedly may have subtly shifted the internal schedule and delayed the release even further.
Fans have been waiting to return to Albion since 2020. The release was initially expected in 2025, but at the Xbox Developer Direct 2026, a release window was announced – fall 2026. New leaks claimed that the game could be pushed back to the end of the year.
Instead of an official statement, the studio chose a different format for their response. The official Fable account on X began actively responding to users and confirmed the fall 2026 release.
Such a response to rumors is rare for projects of this scale. Players took it as a signal of the studio's confidence and confirmation that they do not plan to change course.
The rumors were partly based on expectations that Microsoft might separate major releases to avoid overlapping with the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. However, judging by the developers' reaction, Playground Games intends to stick to the announced window, even if it involves minor shifts within the fall.
