According to the analytical company Alinea Analytics, the PS5 version of Starfield sold about 140,000 copies in its first week. Formally, this is a good result, but in comparison with other releases from Xbox Game Studios over the past six months, the figures look rather average.
In particular, Starfield lost to games such as The Outer Worlds 2, but bypassed Avowed. In the final ranking among recent Xbox releases on PS5, the project took a place roughly in the middle of the list, which also includes Ninja Gaiden 4, Age of Empires IV, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and South of Midnight.
Nevertheless, Starfield also has a strong side: the game has become the fastest-selling project on this list in terms of achieving key indicators in the first week. The closest competitor, Ninja Gaiden 4, barely exceeded 100,000 copies in the same period.
As for the Starfield audience on PlayStation: fans of past Bethesda Game Studios projects, including Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, are actively playing the game. There is also an overlap with the audience of The Outer Worlds 2 and No Man's Sky.
