Sony has presented details about the technical and gameplay features of Saros, which will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 30.
The project is being developed by Housemarque, known for Returnal. It was previously announced that the game has "gone gold," and now the authors have revealed the key technical features that await players at the start.
One of the main innovations will be the updated PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) technology, which provides an even clearer image, almost indistinguishable from native 4K. On the PS5 Pro, the base resolution has also been increased before upscaling, which allows you to achieve higher image quality at a stable 60 frames per second. The frequency is reduced to 30 frames per second only in story cutscenes.
Both versions — for PS5 and PS5 Pro — will receive a number of common improvements. In particular, the developers have improved Tempest 3D AudioTech technology, offering an updated Precision 3D Audio system for deeper immersion. The game also actively uses adaptive controller triggers, which react differently to partial and full presses, enhancing the feeling of gameplay.
Special attention is paid to tactile feedback: according to the authors, players will find "special" tactile effects that develop the ideas laid down in Returnal. In addition, thanks to almost instant loading, users will be able to quickly return to the game after death or enhance the gameplay when activating special events, such as an "eclipse" that changes audio-visual perception.
