The developers found their past experience working on hordes of enemies very useful.
Before the sensational Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive studio created another popular cooperative shooter. The technologies used then later came in handy when working on the game based on "Waha."
Recently, in a conversation with EDGE, Saber Creative Director Tim Willits said that several options for opponents were considered for Space Marine 2. However, in the end, they settled on the Tyranids.
The reason for this choice lies in the technology available to the studio. Earlier in World War Z, the developers introduced a technology for processing hordes of zombies. During the discussion, the idea was expressed that this could also be done with Tyranids:
Given the success of World War Z, when the team started working on Space Marine 2, it became quite natural [choice....] It was like, "Imagine what it would be like to do the same thing with Tyranids that we did with zombies before?" It was from this conversation that the idea of using such enemies in the game began.
Judging by the further success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the choice was made correctly
