Iron Galaxy Studios has announced new staff reductions. The company confirmed the decision in an official statement posted on LinkedIn, but the exact number of employees affected by the reduction was not disclosed. According to Game Developer, it is a "significant" reduction in staff.
Iron Galaxy is known as the leading developer of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 collection, as well as a co-developer of PC versions of major projects, including The Last of Us Part I, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
The previous wave of layoffs occurred in 2025 — the studio then laid off 66 employees, calling it a "last resort" for long-term survival. This time, the management focuses not on a one-time crisis, but on systemic changes in the industry. The statement emphasizes that since 2020, the video game market has been undergoing a "constant transformation", and the company no longer expects to return to the previous conditions.
Today, Iron Galaxy regrets to announce a reduction in staff. We are losing colleagues and friends as we adapt to the new structure of the company and the realities of the industry. We need to evolve again.
The studio notes that the changes have affected not only them, but also their partners: players' habits, publishers' requirements, and general business conditions have changed. As a result, according to the management, maintaining the previous team size has become impossible even after last year's reduction.
